Hi All,

Nearing completion of my first engine build and need a little info on which thermostat housing and sandwich plate to fit.

Engine originally came out of a I990 Metro (1275) no bypass and I presume was fitted with the inline heater valve as the

head has not been drilled out.

The original items had two inlets on the thermostat housing and one on the sandwich plate (Both unusable due to corrosion)

would like to keep the same setup on the Mini when I get one, if this is possible? If not what are the options.

Many thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Cheers

Stuart

I think the main outlet on the upper Metro thermostat housing is angled slightly differently most Minis (not sure about MPI), and I believe the hose sizes are also slightly different.

Sandwich plate also takes a fairly chunky hose size, I think you will struggle to get 5/8 bore heater hose to fit this.

Are you planning to use a side-mount or front-mount radiator in your Mini?

This is the thermostat housing you will need

And this is the sandwich plate you will need

This way, you can use the standard side rad layout and you can use the inline valve and not have to drill the head for a heater take off

Thanks for the reply, been on Mini Spares site in the last few minutes and you have confirmed what I have deduced myself.

Thanks Iain
