Simple enough I think...

I have just installed a nice set of Rockford Fosgate 6-inch coaxial speakers on the parcel shelf.  I would like to add a sub in the boot, but got to thinking about it:

If the sub is moving a large amount of air would it tear the cones out of the speakers on the parcel shelf, or are there enough leaks in the trunk to disperse the air quickly enough to avoid damaging the speakers?

I plan to mount either an 8" or a 10" sub in a sealed enclosure on the right side of the boot.

What are your thoughts, or experiences?

get rid of the coaxs.

get some 6" splits up the front

put sub in boot

be happy in the knowledge that it's done the right way.

I dont think it would tear the cones from the speakers but it isnt going to do them any good and as you realised you have the sub forcing against the speakers in the parcel shelf so its not going to make them sound very good. plus the sub isn't going to be able to properly transmit its sound through the holes that maybe are left. ideally you want the sup to be free flowing into the cabin for best sound.
