After waiting years to get a mini my Dad donated his to me 6 months ago only for it to fail its mot the next day :) Just got it through its MOT but somewhere along the way it's lost its expansion tank cap. So the waiting game continues. Where could I get one asap? Lots of shops car closed over Christmas break. Long shot but there is a mini sprite in a car yard down the road from me would this have a cap that would fit an mpi expansion tank?

Needs to be a proper cap designed for the mpi as it needs to have the right pressure rating otherwise it will fail, mini spares or mini sport are your best bet, other than that it's eBay be carefull of some wrong types on there though

It's a 2001 mpi? Halfords would be ideal as then wouldn't need to wait for postage

Is it something Halfords stock???  I would think

MGF would be a fair bet. Get the part number off one of the Mini sites & Google it.

Managed to get one from a local motor factor but can't close te bonnet with it on. They also have a 90bhp one which is smaller in design. I have the standard cooper. What difference will this make?

Like I said best to get a proper one, defiantly not right if you can't close the bonnet!

Took it back swoped for the 90bhp one which lets the bonnet shut. Will order a new one from mini spares as soon as they open. Will just use the 90bhp one to get the mini to my house.

Are we talking at crossed purposes here? An MPI Mini is the last incarnation of the little cutie Rover stopped making in 2000, with a 1275cc engine. Do you mean one of BMW's badge engineered replacements?
