Mpi Engine Power Upgrades Questions

I was not going the lcb way a I read there's not much to gain and moving the lambda censor screws things up?.
Now it's the not so easy bolt on bits.
Do I cam it with a Kent 274i or stage 3ish head or will the standard rover ecu handle both?.
I don't want to change the ecu or go 7 port etc.
Also is it worth putting a mpi on a rolling road for setting the engine up?
Cheers

Changing the head will see the most gains...I have looked at cams but they can cause issues I believe come MOT time.

I've had good results with the SW5i in MPi's and have put them through the MOT without issue... IMO you'll gain very little from the throttle body it's not like the MPi struggles for air through the standard one...
Upgrading to a larger valve head also works well, but don't go overboard on the porting, again it's not like it struggles for air flow
The main restricting factor of the MPi is the engine management system and the tall final drive.
I agree with the LCB, unless you move the Lamba to the main pipe, on the LCB it's only sampling from two cylinders
And unless you have a mappable ignition system then there's no point putting on a rolling road other than to see what power/torque it's delivering.. on a before / after basis

Well the throttle body was free :)
Going go with a stage 3ish head. Gas flowed, reface and bit bigger valves.
Next question is it worth fitting the 1.5.1 rockers?. I now some people think there good and some people bad on a carb engine, but are they a improvement on a mpi?
Looking at other stuff it dose not seem worth fitting that facet power boost valve for this kind of spec?
Cheers

the fuel boost won't increase power as the name suggests, it a regulator so that the pressure can be adjusted, at high rpm on a highly tuned engine the injection system can start to struggle, so increasing the fuel pressure by restricting the return flow can help with this. I would wait until you have everything fitted and see if you need it

(35.7mm inlet and 29.3mm exhaust) and 180lb double valve springs Combustion chambers are set at an average 21.4cc

I found that I needed the fuel pressure regulator after head work, cam and 1.5 roller rockers - it certainly smoothed things out and stopped it running lean.
Southam fitted my regulator and set things up for me and I had a before and after power run to see how things were.

is really noticeable ? I've got Lcb , K and n induction and an rc40 full stainless system. The cars suspension system is all sorted high lows negative camber etc and I'm now looking at taking the power up a bit. Thanks

Did you make any progress on this? :)

I have a cooper works stg3 head, 1.5:1 roller rockers, mani + exhaust and de-cat, k&n 57i kit plus sc/cr gearbox with a 3.4very short final drive. It revs through and runs lovely and smooth but
It still feels slow. :-( but I have gone from a 270bhp 330lb/ft megane to this.

No no and no progress so far working to much and still to cold for me outdoors.
Been looking at the sw5i cam as bought another engine so might upgrade that engine and swop the hole unit.
@ sirjakethebrit I have gone from a 270bhp 330lb/ft megane to this. Welcome to the mortal world :)

Id be more interested in seeing any difference in power proven by effects on a drag strip. I'm going to laugh at mine, sorry I mean run mine in minis vs bettles at York. If I can beat 18.5 I'll be flabbergasted!
