so my battery has eventually died and despite owning minis for quite a few years ive never needed to buy a battery before.

my mini is a standard 1980, 998, the only extra electrical device added to him is a radio, what battery would you recommend i get?

I use an 096 battery, maybe overkill but why not when it's basically the same price?

You may need to file a little material off the bottom for it to fit completely.

Me I go for the 075 Car Battery a little smaller than the 096 but I can get insulation around the battery for the cold winter months.

Which you wouldn't need with 680 CCA :-)

Although, with a smaller battery, it's probably a good idea.

Have a look at Eurocar parts for battery offers - it means you can buy a much more expensive battery for less than somebody like Halfords.

As an example the 075 Bosch with 4 years warranty is less than £60 - always worth saving a few ££'s at this time of year.

Second for the 075 from Euro car parts. I got a bosch 075 earlier this year for £49 with 4 year warranty. They do special offer discounts all year round. A lot cheaper than Halfords.

075 all makes fit, but the larger 096 varies slightly in case size and some are a really difficult fit and rather than sit flat are wedged in the box to the point they are difficult to get out.

I just fitted a Varta Silver top 096, had to slightly trim the battery length wise, no problems getting it out but maybe on some makes this could be an issue. Good price also...... http://www.tayna.co....tery-P3197.html

It's also worth noting if you are buying from Euro Car Parts, that you get 25% off if you are a TMF+ Member.

thanks for the advice guys, ive just checked euro parts and they have

lion 3year gtee £40 was £80

exide 3year gtee £55 was £76

bosch s4 4year gtee £60 was £62 (massive saving on that one)

exide premium 4year gtee £67 was £83

bosch s5 5year gtee £80 was £97

so is it as simple as the most expensive is best?

they are all 60ah and then range from 520cca to 600cca will i notice the difference in this? or is it not to relevant?
