Has anyone tried the rubber glove method which you put over the distributer and is it more effective then the plastic sheild kits about?

Im going to try the rubber glove before I go back to work, managed to find a black pair so hapefully it won't look to ridiculous. I will use cable ties or electrical tape to seal it when fitted

Yes the mariglove works, but  before fitting, smear some little vaseline on the lip inside the dizzy cap to avoid moisture in the distributor.

I just clean and dry the cap thoroughly, then I plaster it liberally with a non-conductive silicone grease, typically Aeroshell aircraft flying control cable grease or similar. Vaseline can also be used as an alternative. Make sure it goes onto all the places where the leads go in and around the joint where the cap meets the dizzy metal body.

Also liberally coat the coil connections and the plug caps where the leads enter the caps.

Not keen on the Marigold glove system as if any moisture gets inside it then it will just short out the HT leads.

I never use the shield as it obstructs easy access.

Yes. I used to use the marigold trick. Use some rubber bands to secure the fingers tightly against the leads. Your coil lead is best to go through the middle finger.

Can't tell you if it worked better than the plastic shield as my mini never had one.
