My poorly mini is leaking and it's driving me crazy. I've ordered some new door seals as they are pretty torn. But I've noticed that it's also leaking down my check straps and inside the car. I don't have any kind of seal on my check straps

so I purchased these

but they just push my door out too much and it's hard to close. Do I just need to adjust my door? And how do I do that?

Before you adjust your door, try the later foam check strap seals

I believe you have MK1 door seals there.  Get the foam type and all should be well again :)

Well I've now fitted genuine door seals and the later foam check strap seals and it's still leaking. It seems to run down and sit on the top of the bottom of the door seal. Lol that made more sense in my head. Will try and post a picture

I made my own check strap seals out of some neoprene and then siliconed them on, making sure to have the top edge angled such that any water that runs onto it, runs outwards rather than inwards.  Also, rather than a 'hole' for the actual check strap, I just cut a slit in it, so it's quite tight around the strap.

Solved my leak.

Have you got any drain points on your door seals?  Mine have got two little cutouts in the seal bit at the bottom, presumable to let any water drain out rather than overflowing into the car like that.  I think one of them is just at that point too.

It's possible that is coming in through the door. Do you have clear drain holes in the bottom of the door?

I made my own too, screwfix sell some closed cell automotive draught excluder. Angled down as suggested to ensure the water runs down and out. Agree this one looks like it's from a drain hole in the photo. Cheers Steve

Had this problem with my car turned out to be water leaking from the back of the door card due to the plastic membrane being toast just
Try removing the door card and have someone pour water down the door if this is the problem just seal up the holes with some wide duck tape
Job done

Ok so I found several problems. I removed the door cards and they are really bad, all wet. I don't have any plastic on there at all any more. So when I pour water down the window it just runs into the door and then out the door card. Not loads but enough to cause it to leak inside the car.

So can I buy new outer window seals and cure this? The drain holes are clear. I did however find all this sitting in the bottom of the passenger door.

What is that?

The drivers door is completely empty and with no plastic membrane either. So will suck tape up the holes and hopefully cure a bit of it.

The drivers door is also leaking because the top of the door at the front doesn't seem to sit snug. Where the door seal touches the door there's a gap, so water is just coming in and down the door seal. How can I fix that? Without getting new doors lol. Can I try bending the door or will I just end up causing more issues.

Not a very good picture but u can see there's a gap

Obviously I mean duck tape not going to suck tape. Stupid autocorrect.

Also just wanted to say that if I press in the top corner of the door while pouring water along the gap, it doesn't leak.

Couple of ways of sorting this
Any play in your door hinges ??
You can try bending the door frame inwards but take care , also you could also give the top of the door frame lip where the seal sits a bit of a tap outwards this should close the gap
