Just got back from my Christmas break of 11 days and went to start up my 98 Cooper but the immobiliser light will not switch off. I have two sets of keys and tried the second set but had the same result. Could anyone suggest anything to check?

Disconnect the car battery leave for about 10 minutes reconnect and re sync the key fob (press the lock button 4 times in quick succession ). Assuming the key fob battery is good!

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a go on Saturday, was also of thinking of getting a fob battery as well. Could the battery be flat and this cause it not to respond? Was wondering if getting a jump start would be of any use.
