I plan to roll my Mini on its side during my restoration project to enable access to the underside of the floor.  I haven't found any previous postings related to this topic.  Is there a source of advice concerning preparation for this task?  I will remove the drivetrain, rear subframe, doors, windshield, backlight, exterior trim, interior and lights prior to rollover.

I was a bit hasty with my question.  I just did a google search, and found a number of related posts.  I would still welcome comments from those who have done this.  I don't plan to build a fixture, I simply plan to roll the car onto a suitable cushion and I want to ensure that I don't damage the body.

I used some old tyres to sit the shell on its side when rolling my clubman estate over worked a treat

I have seen people use tires, mattresses etc. Just remember you will need something to keep it propped up.

If you are doing a lot of welding then whatever you use to lay the car on needs to be fire proof so mattresses, cushions etc are a serious no no unless you cover them with a fire blanket.

Hi I am looking at rolling shell onto its side to get access to underneath, not sure of extent of work yet! Was going to use a mattress, looking for tips seen use of tyres above, how many and where would be best to place them? Just weighing up options at the moment, blown my short term budget on an engine hoist not going to get the rollover jig as well!!
Any help gratefully received, thanks as always!!
Pete.
