Hi all, where I'm from its difficult to find GFE166 or GFE443. I've found some alternatives based on this http://www.oilfilter...NI-PART/GFE-443 and seems like the K&N HP-1002 would work. Question is has anybody tried it? Is it OK to use alternatives based on this site?

Many thanks!

Size is important. MGB filters fit a treat - if the engine is on the bench! When its in the car its a different matter altogether. Diameter is more critical than length. Do you have a local motor factors you can go to to have a look at them. I would imagine there are a whole range that will fit, it's just finding them.

Those appear to be alternatives to the part number you gave, but don't appear to be a direct comparison in all cases.  From my experience of dealing with filters (I own a Motor Factor), I would only use those that I know to be a good comparison.  ie Fram PH966b or Wix WL7098.  Some of those on there are clearly just wrong.  A Coopers AZL027 is the wrong type of filter completely.  The correct number should be Z25.

Thank you all. Seeing how that list may not be reliable, I'll stick to the Unipart. Shipping from minispares is gonna cost though ... ...

Have you tried buying from Unipart?
I know you arenot in the UK, but I used them for service parts a couple of months ago and was very impressed with the prices and delivery times.

Thanks Shep76S, i tried contacting them but they do not ship outside Europe it seems. I've bitten the bullet and ordered it from ebay. I've also ordered a K&N HP 1002 from amazon just to try, will report if it works!
