Just a quickie, is this valve spring compressor suitable for a Mini engine?

It looks similar to the Minispares one, but they want £8 to post it, while I can collect from Machine Mart.

Thanks

It'll work. But so will the one above. The one you linked is a good general purpose one and has more clearance for ohc heads. I've got one of each. The one you linked also doesn't have as much room around the collets but will work fine and will also work better for other cars you may end up tinkering with.

Okay, thanks. I think I might get the cheaper one as I'm not going to be doing major engine work on anything but an A series.

I have one of those and find it a pain with a series heads. I have to use a stack of big washers to pack it out and get it to work. I got one of these and it works much better:

Are these of good quality then? It just seems a bit cheap to me, and it looks like it's made of plastic?

I might get that one if it is though, and it is definitely suitable for an A Series?

I use one of these... http://www.machinema...ring compressor

and as mentioned above I have a fairly thick washer welded to the end of the cup... This is because the length of the mini valve is relatively short and that extra bit on the adjustement makes all the difference to the operation of the compressor...

Metal not plastic. Works fine and has several adaptors so you can customise to make it perfect. I also got a couple for work as they are very good for the money.
