I started my build thread on the MIni Cooper Register, but as there are problems with the forum I have decided to continue my build on here instead.

The 1st stage of the build was carried out during the summer of 2013 ready for my wedding on September 22nd 2013.

On 23rd September I left the UK with my new wife and completed 3500 mile tour around france, swiss alps, dropping down the Col De st bernard into Turin, staying at the FIAT buildings before traveling back into France over the Col De Turini dropping into Monte Carlo for dinner around the harbour, nights stay and few laps of the Grandprix circuit. Awesome coast drive then headed up route napoleon, to Le mans, trip on a ferry breakfast in Brighton.  All this is 16 days and 13 hotels.  Running a standard 1275cc engine.

2013 The second stage

In 2013 I have be busy with the second stage, the 1275 engine despite been mega reliable had to go,  I had been looking at 1293cc etc and a 1380 came up at the right price.

Last year I collected many parts for my conversion, and have been sorting the engine bay and wiring loom.

So here we are in 2014 I must get my Mini ready for 2014 show season.

enjoy the pics

This is where I left my build end of December 2013 -  I have been busy sorting the main wiring loom over xmas and made a start on re-wiring the full works loom I have added to power all the parts.  Loom is been built to very high spec.

I had great plans to get a load of work done today on re-wiring my works dash board.  When I 1st wired it up in quite a hurry I fitted an Alpine Radio Cassette which just as we reached Dover blew up, so a quick trip to Halfords I bought a Pioneer with a IPOD dock great except display was now blue and my green LED Toggle switches did not match.... silly but I am quite fussy.  So before xmas I ordered some blue ones.

Great they came the other week..... after re-wiring the fan switch, which is now running a in-line system with override to overide the new fan switch. I then re-wired the P-lights also a plain switch.  All tested and heat shink with new crimp and connections.

Next in line was the Route Card holder, great wired it all in nice flicked the LED switch bloody WHITE LED.

JOB STOPPED!!!   Then a rant to the supplier on ebat for sending me the wrong colour LED.

My wife took a few pics and just found them on her facebook

How my dash looks installed in my Mini.

I will be adding a Terratrip Classic Rally Trip and running the fuel pump possibly on a E.T.A circuit breaker instead of fuse.

A few bits from L33 EJB have been used:

SPARCO FOOT REST & JAGUAR STARTER FOR HORN SWITCH

MONTE CARLO HEATED FROM SCREEN

TWIN WASHER JETS

DRIVERS SEAT MOUNTS COPIED FOR FIA SEAT From L333 EJB

MODIFIED CLUTCH & BRAKE PEDAL

MASTER SWITCH mount copied from D555 GRX

I have used a lot of parts as found on the last works minis, this is not going to be an exact replica but based very close to the Works Cars 1994 - 1997.

I am running standard drops and not SC drops as I like to hear my radio when on long tours and events.

Also will have 3:1 final drive as most shows I attend are miles away.

Least my SCCR Box will be soaked in oil to keep some of noise down.

ANYONE FITTED A WINDAGE TRAY FROM MINISPEED????

Not much done this week due to still waiting for new switches for dash to arrive.  Grrrr!!!

Anyone recommend some good oil to use in my 1380???

Anyone recommend anyone to make up some oil pipes???

Has anyone fitted a HYDRAULIC handbrake on rear drum brakes keeping standard handbrake?

Oil - You will get lots of recommendations from lots of different people on here.  Depending on how much you want to spend and local availability Valvolene VR1 and Millers CTV are the usual high quality and cost suspects, although Comma Sonic is a reasonable cost alternative.  Most engine builders will have their own favourite brand, it would be hard to argue with their recommendation, at least until the first oil change.

Oil pipes - try a local hydraulic pipe supplier such as Pirtek.  There is an outlet in Warrington and they make pipework to suit industrial equipment and commercial vehicles such as tail-lifts, hydraulic motors and rams etc.

Hydraulic handbrake - never done one, but I could ask a couple of rally-driving buddies who have converted standard road cars to have both functioning cable and hydraulic systems for stage rallying if ya like !!

Phil.

Hi, phil,

Thanks for your reply

I live in warrington so great that they have an outlet here...

Oil I may use millers as I have few amazon gift vouchers from xmas sitting not doing very much.

Might just fit a flyoff handbrake, cant see me doing many handbrake turns anyway.
