Jack up where the front of the tie bars go... Axle stands on subframe. Do not use Floor pans!

As above, there was a guide somewhere showing you how to jack up and axle stand a Mini. But generally, just stick to the subframes and it'll be fine.

Unless its the subframes that need to come off, then use some strong planking across the floor pan and put the stands under that.

Scaffold planks are ideal

+1 for the subframe :)  Jacking points should only be used with the original jack - to be honest I wouldn't use them even then!  Renound for failing.  Don't fancy a big hole in the floor!!

I have 4 plastic bottle crates which I use under the floors when I need to remove a sub-frame. In the case of the front sub-frame I remove the engine/gearbox first with stands under the sub-frame adjacent to where the lower arm fits. Then when the engine is out I place the plastic crates under the front floor.

The only time this doesn't work is when the steering rack or sub-frame mounts have to be changed as the sub-frame with engine on it needs to be dropped. In that case I use two large squarepieces of wood on top of the crates to spread the load better
