Hi there. Firstly I'm not sure how long or how many miles to do on the running in oil? I had new bearings, pistons, crank reground, head work etc.

Also what would be best after it's run in?

Cheers

Valvoline VR-1 20w50 mineral oil is very popular for modified engines.

Millers 20w50 is also good as is Penrite.

Great, thank you. Do you have any idea how many miles I need to do before using that oil?

Thanks

Between about 300 and 500 miles should be good. Don't leave it any longer than 500.

I've read all sorts of topics about how to run the engine in. How much should I be opening it up before changing the oil? Cheers

At 450 miles you could be using up to around 4500 rpm at fairly full throttle openings.

Change the oil then use it normally at up to 5000 to 5500 rpm, then after a bit use 6000 rpm and full throttle.

You won't hurt it :D.
