hi all

i'm in the process of restoring a 79 mini.

Instead of patching the floor in various areas i've decided to buy a full pan and replace the whole along with the heelboard..

my question is regarding the removal of the inner sill/floor section between the companion bin and the quarter panel.

is there a way to remove this area with out removing the companion bin or cutting the quarter panel bottom.

i've about 50% of the spot welds removed and before i go any further with the cutting, I said i'd ask instead of making work for myself.

any advice would be grateful

thanks in advance

danny

Cut out as my hastily can and then just grind off the remaining bit that connects the floor and companion bin

bracing isn't a problem, i used pull beetle bodies off there pans so know all about bracing.

i was hoping to retain the inner still stiffener as they are good in car but it appears it might be just easier to cut them out still attached to floor.

The inner sill stiffener is area he's to the sill by spot welds and also to the rear heal board if it's all coming out try remove it after but you may find if your floor is In a state to warrant full replacement they will be crusty in some way. They are a simple panel to make even if you have little or no fab skills and why out old stuff back on the nice new floor

I agree with minispares. Best to get some fresh metal in there.
