hi, I have 6 origional steel wheels for my 79 mini. I want to get them blasted and powder coated and then some new tyres. Can i use a008s or are they to wide. The wheels currently have kumo power star 145r10 68t on except one which has a Dunlop but this is ruined and full of water!

I'm not quite sure how wide they are. They are 10s They all still have tyres on so can't accurately measure either. I'm sure someone will know though!

I think they will probably be 3.5" wide. Not sure if the a008's will fit, probably be too wide like you said but let's see what others have to say :)

If they are 3.5s they won't fit or they will be extremely chunky. I think 79 would have had 4.5 standard steelies though.

^ I have a feeling they might be 4.5 as my crude measurements did seem to say that. Didn't want to say for definite though as I couldn't be sure!

A '79 car with front drum brakes would've had 3.5x10" steelies, the 4.5x12" steelies were only fitted due to needing bigger wheels for the upgrade to disc brakes in 1984.

You could theoretically fit a 165 tyre (A008) to a 3.5" wheel, but I would advise against it. It probably wouldn't be safe going by this FAQ, as you'd be using the tyre outside of the manufacturers specified width limits - http://www.theminifo...?showtopic=8933

If they're 4.5x10 steelies then they'd probably be Cooper S rims/reverse rims.

If they are 3.5" then use 145/80 x 10 tyres. If they are 4.5" use either 165/70 or 145/80 tyres.

To find out just measure the width of the wheel.
