Hi folks,

Just wondered if anyone here has a way of doing HPI checks for free? And who wouldn't mind putting in YX53TVF (Rover 25) for me? Off to view tomorrow with cash in my pocket!

   Thanks! Lucy

i dont think it is possible, and when you think about it, 40 or so quid is a small price to pay to know that a police man isnt going to come knocking on your door to take away your nice new car and not giving you any of the money back.

Yeah I know it's just the car is only £300 so adds a considerable amount to the purchase price! X

You still have to pay for that, although it is cheaper.

All the free check does is tell you the make and model of your car.

Hmm I think I'll just be optimistic and foolhardy - comes with full service history and only one previous owner so cross fingers! Was a part-ex so maybe the garage will have done one?

Even if it's a cheap car, I'd say it was still worth the money purely for peace of mind. Still, if it has FSH and 1 previous owner, chances are it will have a clear history - but you never know for certain.

Car checks are a must, even if you are buying a car to scrap.... last thing you need is being accused of dealing with stolen goods...

So if you don't mind loosing £300, then I'll give you my bank account details and you can give it to me...

PS, when I'm out buying cars, I purchase a group of 5 checks for £25 from vehiclecheck ( which is backed by Experian which is no different to HPI )

you can do the text checks for a few quid? They give all the needed details like crashes, stolen, vin no ect.
