One of my friends put the radio unit in the bottom of a centre console £30-40 on ebay, with the speakers above. If I can find it again  I will post it. Two small speakers and two larger ones on the parcel shelf, looked nice to be honest.  :D

heres my setup, sounds pretty decent i think  :proud: ... fronts are urban audios (soon to be replaced with JBLs). rear parcel shelf speakers and sub are also JBL

Hey Chris1992 cool looking setup, I like your creativity. especially the sub in the back, must be bone-shaking for your passengers. although if your like me the back seats are off limits (too much weight slows me down :D

Mine has speakers where the air vents would normally be at the sides... Not really missed the lack of air vent as mine blows like an asthmatic mouse anyway...

I have a focal coaxial and tweeter system in custom speaker pods up front (looks tidy and doest take up too much space), two 6.5's in the parcel shelf and 2 focal 6" subs under the rear seat. Although the subs are only small they provide more than enough sound! Don't be tricked into putting a sub into your boot. Doing that is pointless on a mini as the sound will get trapped due to the parcel shelf being part of the body and so on. As far as the head unit goes mount it where you want. Wherever you put it, it will be a stretch to reach  >_<

Here is my setup (not brilliant pictures):

A sub in the boot is perfectly fine providing you have an equal sized aperture into the cabin area as the sub for the sound to travel through, on later minis the factory speaker holes are ideal for this as there's not point having speakers in them, unless you want your rear screen to enjoy the sounds. ;-)

More important that placement of a sub is the correctly sized enclosure, this will make or break your subs potential.

Mid and high speakers (for best reproduction) should be facing at your ears, with the tweeters ideally as close to eye level as possible but still within about 300mm of the mids.

But as for front placement, some kind of pods under the dash rail / doors with the tweeters on the top dash rail / door corners / A pillar is ideal.
