It's a silly question but I'm having a hard time trying to find what I need.. My idea is to fit a quick release/snap off boss kit for my steering wheel so I can obviously take the steering wheel off for security. This is what quick release I am interested in is this one or something similar http://item.mobilewe...Id=121226625469 it will fit a 6 hole boss and steering wheel. The only issue is what boss do I need to get for it and where is it I can get it from. So yeh any advice welcome on the boss and if anyone has any suggestions on different quick releases. Open to everything at the moment

This is the boss I was looking at but I'm not sure if it would fit because of the lip bit.. Any ideas??

Firstly, you need to work out what wheel you want to fit. Modern style wheels like momo, sparco and other cheap copies of these use a 6 hole, 70mm pcd pattern. You then need to find a boss that bolts to your steering column. The two best ones ive come across are a momo item and one made by springalex. Then you need to find a quick release mechanism to fit between the two. Again, there are probably cheap ebay copies (please remember this is your steering system so purchase the best quality items you can within your budget!!!) i would recommend either the lifeline group n quick release system (very expensive but very nice) or the bg racing alternative (half the price of the lifeline one, but not as nice and much heavier). They will both extend the column between 2 and 3 inches towards the driver. Then just bolt it all together! If you get stuck just give the guys at merlin motorsport a ring, they helped me out massively and they sell all the above parts needed!

No, but then your steering wheel is held on with an rclip. I know which id rather fit.

Is it even made of steel? I wouldnt fancy having an accident with my steering wheel only being attached by a relatively small r clip! Each to their own.

It is a normal steel R clip, it will only fail if massive amounts of force was applied on the steering wheel towards my face, I don't see that is ever going to happen and if I'm in a crash that serious, I don't see much chance of survival. I carried out extensive testing (sitting in the seat and pulling hard on the wheel and the R clip flexed minimally and sprung back to where it was) and have come to a conclusive decision that the R clip securing method is safeIs it even made of steel?
