I recently replaced the my inlet manifold and managed to miss place one of the nuts that holds the carb to the inlet i tried a 8mm metric thread nut and it screwed on a little then wouldn't go any further so i guess the thread is wrong does anyone know what nut i need to get to replace it? cheers

5/16 UNF.
Most threads on the mini are imperial so you can forget your metric stuff.

There is something non-standard about these nuts. I am very sure that the thread is indeed 5/16" UNF, but the nuts are quite thin.
The nut is FNZ206, used on JCBs, Austin Healey bonnets, and various other places according to Google, picture here: http://www.cape-inte...&thepart=FNZ206 (if you try to buy one you are told by Somerford it is obsolete and to use NT606041) with plain washer PWZ206 for early HS2 and HS4 carburettors, single or twin, but is shown as FNZ205, used on MGA master cylinder push rod amongst other things (use use NT605041 now), with plain waher PWZ105 on the HIF, and a nylok LNZ206 on Special Tuning twin HS series, according to the Somerford web site. All are definitely 5/16" UNF, presumably the thickness differs slightly?
However a PWZ206 washer is described in many places as 3/8" bore, 1.25" OD, which does not seem right, and a PWZ205 is 5/15" bore by 1" OD, which has the correct bore but seems impossibly large!

You can get away with a standard thickness nut, but you have to start all of them (two or 4) before you tighten any up.
