I'm hoping someone with experience on this conversion can point me in the right direction on this or anyone else for that matter,
have a bmw k100 8v conversion running carbs and dizzy, had engine running in car, since had dizzy out but now cant get to run, if im correct firing order is 1243, have spark and definately have fuel, can anyone advise on which cylinder it should be firing on have both pulleys aligned with each other and timing marks on flywheel aligned, dizzy set to number one but just doesnt attemp to fire, do get a backfire after cranking for a period, not surd if i suspect to be 180 out and should be firing on 4, any advice would be appreciated, thanks matt

I always thought it was 1342 , number 1 being at the rad side of the engine and the direction was anticlockwise. Number 1 plug lead on cap is usually at 1 oclock, ish.

BMW head firing order is indeed 1243. Sounds like you have the leads round the wrong way. Mine did the same on first start-up. Turned over but wouldnt start apart from the occasional backfire. Swapped 2 and 3 around i think and it started up first turn over.

Definitely got them in the right order 1243, when setting up are your pulleys aligned facing each other with 1 & 4 at tdc, with the dizzy then aligned to number 1 (2 o'clock ish), just doesn't want to fire just cranking over, very frustrating when it has ran already

Hi
Sorry i cant really help you that much regarding the dizzy, as mine is injected. I can take some pics of the pulleys if that helps you any? Where did you get your conversion kit from?
