Hi im in the process of reassembling a 1985 mini and just started it up for the first time and I've noticed it has a really high bite point virtually at the top of the clutch travel does this mean a replacement clutch or could it be something else :)

Have you bled the system ? Is it verto or pre-verto set up ?

I've not bled the system yet I need to bleed the brakes so probably worth doing at the same time. I'm not 100% sure on the style of the clutch is there an easy way to tell without taking it apart :) and thanks for your answer

How long is the clutch arm (roughly)? A picture of the clutch wok/arm/slave cylinder would help

In this photo just under the washer bottle you can see the clutch arm, this is the short (VERTO) Clutch set up

 

This one has the long arm which is pre verto

Thanks just been to the garage and it looks short not sure if you can see on this pic

Yeah thats a verto clutch, if/when it's bled properly, if it's still biting high the chances are it's the clutch plate thats worn
