Hi All. I could really do with some advice. My husband and I purchased a complete 1961 Austin 7 mini back In 2008. She is/was and could be beautiful again. My husband said he would restore her back to her original condition for my 40th birthday, well this was last year and still no mini :( after much sole searching we agreed that she wouldn't be done by our fair hands. This is where I hope you all. Can help. She is stripped to the shell, with all parts boxed up. We have spent £1500 on new body panels including a new floor (most from heritage mini) however should I sell her as a project or speculate and pay someone to restore the shell and then sell her. I have shed many tears over my beloved mini and nearly a divorce, however she must be sold as I cannot see her in the garage for much longer. Please help if you can. X

Thats rather sad to have to throw in the towel after making a good start on it. Have you thought about joining a local mini club see if members can spare a few hours each to help get it sorted and back on the road? Trouble is with mini prices going upwards you will regret in a few years yiu had the 61 and let it go. Good luck, you just need some help.

HI

sorry to say if you pay people to work on a car

you never get you money back

you see cars at auction that can some times sell for 1/2

the restoration cost

so my advice would be to sell now  you might get you money back

but that never pays for the time and hart brake

sorry

Thanks all for your comments. She is very special and it would be very sad to see her go, I think she is the delux model as she has little lights where the rear ashtrays are, also a double skinned boot door. Could anyone confirm that? The sub frames have been blasted and painted and are in really excellent condition, not however the battery box! Also someone has gone to town welding patch here and patch there! I will put some pictures on tomorrow for you all to see. I am in South Shropshire so Telford and Shrewsbury are not far away. I have had minis since I learnt to drive, the last one i had was a Y reg cooper, she was red and silver. I had to sell her as I had two young children and it was impossible to fit everything in. I sobbed like a baby when is she went. Thanks again everyone
