Chances are that if its a decent engine then someone has already stuck it in a mini.

yes it has been done before but as far as im aware there is only one person on here that has done it :-

awesome project mate, wish i had the funds and the parental support to do what ur doin. Its annoying that high spec engines have such short usage but i spose thats the price you pay. I cant imagine that kinda power tho, given that ive got a 998 and i can wheelspin in 2nd around roundabouts :withstupid:
Any update on those alloys? im so jealous

no the alloys wont be done till the car is ready for sraying once its ready for spraying that means the cars nearly finished ;)

Typical race engine, between 4000-8000 miles. At 20 years old I was paying 2k on insurance for my race 1425, similar spec to yours. Hope your daddy doesn't mind paying that.

well it will probs be me paying for insurence like ive payed for everything else so far BUT i reckon ill only use it on the track but my dad is welcome to use it on the road if he wants :w00t:

Just read through the whole thread and i love it! :w00t:

Either you have massive hands or everythin on your car is in miniature :w00t:...

Keep up the good work!! :D

na everything is just miniature hehe :D

got my block and head back today had the head skimmed and its already been ported and polished before and had the block bored to 73.5mm and had 20thou skimmed off the top :D

Well i can only think of 3 RWD minis that are the only ones with those engines.
RV8, Swift, and K series.
RV8 being the most limited (as in not many minis with one in the front let alone the rear),
It depends on whether your saying common as in a transplant in general or just into the rear.
but as you said mad im guessing the RV8.

Good luck on a RV8!! You'll NEVER get insured till your a respectable age!
K series isn't too hard, but the gear linkage is a tricky one!
Swift... well best talk to Ed for that!

I also know of a Vtec... thats easier... as its all cable!

well if im honest V8 mini is my dream car to build and its all my dads fault as he built a V8 MK1 capri back in the day cruising at 150 and did somethinig like 70-80 in first gear which is just mental and i still have the V8 badge off of it ready to go on the mini :w00t:

also my uncle has a rover V8 just rotting away in his barn......;)

insurence is a right bummer but would be good fun to use on the tracks if you could get the handling spot on i reckon

When i rang the insurance company to check I could actually do the conversion i asked about a V8 and they said no, but she did go and check and not just bluntly refuse.

the seats are quite big in the mini it has about a quarter inch from the window to the bits near your head on the seats that come out but its just about touching the handbrake is there anything i can do? is there any longer handbrakes that i could fit so i can still use the handbrake without any hassle ;)

bit of a C**p pic without the door on only just took it
