Hey all, after stripping down, cleaining, painter, flushing and reinstalling my heater, i discovered a small drips of water in the footwell. i also felt inside the heater and found dampness. i have checked the pipe connections and they are dry. I am on the assumption that the matrix may have a leak.

in terms of replacing the matrix, there are several options available

  • there are numerous cheap ones on ebay (~£25)
  • one from demister man (ebay) whish is about £50 inc postage (seems to have good reviews on here)
  • Minispares
  • Minisport (currently on sale)
  • somerford minis

just wondering what would be best

The car is a 1985 mayfare

Thanks

My vote is for Minispares. Got one for mine last year, perfect fit, excellent performance.

After looking at the Demisterman all metal one that's what I'd go with. My plastic inlet/aluminum core is the second one in my '92 but the original radiator is just now being replaced, mainly for more cooling. The plastic inlets just feel like they're going to break when you're putting on the hoses.

I used the all metal one from Demister Man, had one in my old pickup too, they are great. Would highly reccommend.
