I have got the chance of buying a " M " reg rover metro Gta in fairly good condition. It has a small bubble of rust on the nearside front wing and the front windscreen rubber seal is a little perished.

What concerns me is that when i started it up ( fired first time i must add ) the automatic choke seemed somewhat erratic, taking the revs up to 2000rpm and then down to 1500 and so on and so forth but, it seemed to settle for a while at approx 1000rpm but then went back up to 2000 or so.

I left it to warm up and eventually the cooling fan kicked in when the temperature gauge needle was half way between normal and hot but the engine still revved erratically at times.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem could be .

In the end I did not go for that metro, but I have just got a "K" reg 5 door Gta 16valve twin cam in great condition with good service history, previous owner does not drive anymore.        RESULT.........................
