I Have just got a 1275GT, it has been in storage for 12 years, I have sorted the electrics but I seem to have a couple of other issues I could do with help.

The Break pedal works but when you take your foot off it needs a little help to return. at the mini show a guy said it will be the pedal shaft just needs greasing. drop the heated down remove the nut at the end of the shaft and it should just pull through?

I tried this put it wont move, I put it back together and now the pedal is even stiffer. I looked in the Haynes manual and it don't say a great deal in there.

Any Ideas?

The shaft runs through the brake and clutch pedals, and may be siezed in either or both of these. I would suggest penetrating oil (not WD40) but take very great care not to get it anywhere near the master cylinder bores.

If all else fails, you may need to undo the steering column, clevis pins, master cylinders (you don't have to move them,so no need to disconnect and bleed hydraulics, but they are held by studs which anchor the pedal box), and pedal box mounting bolts, and take the entire pedal box out of the car for attention. Make sure that the pivot pins and clevises are lubricated with a long life grease on reassembly.

as above but try plus gas in a aerosol.

much better than WD 40 or penetrating oil
