Might seem a daft question but i currently have a twin box rc40 and was wondering if a single box would fit straight on. Does it have a different centre pipe?

cheers :P

As far as I'm aware the centre pipe is the same for both, I think with the twin box RC40's its just the last bit with the actual boxes on that is different!

Yep, just the rear section is different:

single box is minispares ref C-STR809, twin box is ref RC40. Both use downpipe AN180V

The 2 box system uses a shorter pipe from LCB to the first box as the 2nd box is in effect in the tunnel is it not? and the single box connects to the LCB with a longer LCB to Silencer Pipe.

Front pipes for the RC40 come in three types: long front pipe for single box systems (including cars where the catalytic converter is to be deleted), short front pipe for twin box systems and a catalyst link pipe for single box systems where the catalyst is to be retained:
38 RC40FPSB FRONT PIPE, long, single box system 1     39 RC40FPTB FRONT PIPE, short, twin box system 1     40 RC40CP LINK PIPE, catalyst, single box system 1

Thinking about it you are right, the first box does sit in the tunnel. This is why RC40-001 downpipe is not angled at both ends as the rear fits straight to the first box.

Moggy, you will need a different (longer) downpipe if going to a single box. Ignore what I said earlier >_<
