Lowering A Classic Mini

Best Answer Dan , 04 February 2014 - 09:04 AM

Lowered shocks are for use if standard ones bottom out. Often their open length is the same as regular shocks so if the suspension falls apart at full rebound, simply put it's too low. There are many different lengths of shock available and exactly what you will need depends on so many things it's hard to say exactly what will fit where. Adjustable shocks will be needed if you lower the car, you need to stiffen it up from standard to avoid bottoming out. Genuine Hi-Los take care of some of that for big bumps but they will still need more damping than standard at smaller deflection. Go to the full post

I have hi los with standard shocks but I'm not that low. If you jack the back up and the hi los are loose/fall out then lowered shocks are required. Adjustable are not essential but if buying new shocks then might aswel buy adjustable ones
