Every now and again I seem to be getting an intermittent problem with the clock backlight in my dash board, every now and again it seems that's when I turn on my head lights the backlight doesn't come on. I have changed my lights in the clocks to led ones.

Used these ones http://www.ebay.co.u...d=151214562074

These lights are a complete con. For a start, you don't have a CAN bus in a Mini, so don't need to fake the code to make it not show a fault. Also, fault detection in CAN bus systems is generally by current drawn by the lamp, sensed at the central junction box, and that is not faked by a "chip", but by a simple ballast resistor. Also, the light output is far too high for dashboard illumination, and being too bright, driving at night can be dangerous. When you see fraudulent claims in an advert, it is a sure sign that the quality of the item is likely to be suspect, which will explain why they are intermittent, but also check your wiring.

I suggest that you bin them and revert to normal bulbs or proper, simple LED lamps. Avoid Chinese junk if possible, it may seem to be cheap now, but in the long term never is.
