Hi all, anyone know their switches and things? I have picked up a rear wiper motor that im hoping to fit in the near future but whilst looking into the switches etc I thought I would look into a 3 position switch that would work in the same manner as the wiper stalks:

1- on continously
2- off
3- on single sweep

But im really struggling to find such a thing. I can find a 3 position "momentary" switch that when released returns back to the centre off position but it does this from both on positions. I only want it to return to the off from one of the on positions if that makes sense?
I know I can achieve a similar function using relays but im trying to keep it as simple as possible.

Anyone know if there is such a switch or am I out of luck?
Cheers

You can get such switches, but not always suitable for use in a car. I think that if your Mini has rocker switches, adding a toggle may be frowned upon by your insurers, as it adds an injiry risk. However, on an old one, which already has toggle switches, one more will not make much difference. Or, of course, if it is in the area between steering wheel and dash, it is well protected against impact with your face or other parts. And, you may be putting it well out of harm's way, so we will assume that the physical installation can be accomplished safely.

Here is one that should do the job, but it will probably not visually match your other switches:

Edit: Such a switch is described as on-off-momentary on, so Google will find you more that are similar. You will need at least a 10 amp rating.

But they are momentary both ways, and they are crossover DPDT switches. As above this needs an on-off-mom DPDT. Although depending on how the park works (if it uses the same type of park circuit as the standard motor and the rear unit used in an ERA Turbo, a self retarding system) it might actually need an on-on-mom DPDT. I say to use double pole because the second pole can operate the wash pump when in the momentary position as well as the motor. You really should also include an intermittent timer for the constant position, the rear wiper doesn't need to run continuously.

Hi, thanks for the replies. The unit I picked up is the Trico retrofit job, little red box. I had one on my last GT but it was eiter on or off. There was a toggle switch mounted through the steering column plastic cowling. As I said though just a standard 2 position switch. I just thought it might be usefull to have the momentary on option to just clear the window but still having thr option of continuous wipe if required.
