Hi, I have a Lucas 65DM4 Electronic Distributor (93' 1275 Rio) and can suck and blow the vacuum pipe/nozzle till I am blue in the face...no resistance or movement anywhere, I presume its rhubarbed and looking to replace the vacuum unit but cant see how to get it apart any clues?

well, im sure someone will put me right on this, but every time i take a mini and have it put on a rolling road they always disconect the vacuum pipe, and blank it off at the carb end.

thus, if it were me i wouldnt worry about it!

it has adverse effects of efficiency and economy I believe, the vac part should have one bolt on the outside of the dizzy and then it hinges out I think ( been a while since I worked on one) and it unclips on the inside of the dizzy I think

Without the Vacuum Advance in everyday driving on a light throttle and a constant speed the MPG and Torque will suffer, the Unit advances the ignition timing to ensure that the weaker mixture is burnt, as a weaker mixture required more advance.

Here is the 65D4 diagram to aid removal of the advance unit. once you remove the upper body from the base you can see where its retained
