right started work (finally) on my mini today. got the brace bars mounted did lots of welding and got it running (took 8 1/2 hours). anyway took it for a little drive down the road and it feels like the front is rock solid. i noticed when i took the shocks off they didn't uncompress them selves. are they suposed to????? also i haven't fitted the solid subframe mounts yet, will they stop the front feeling solid? or is it something to do with my suspension? as i noticed that when the car sits on the floor it is so low that it is always sittin on the bump stop things (sorry dont know what they are called). should it do this???
sorry i know theres alot of questions there but any help will be greately appreciated.
i will try to get some picture later to make things more clear. x
lots of important questions

They are called 'Dampers'
Both the spring and the damper together ARE the 'Shock absorber'
Dampers are either oil or gas filled. Their purpose is to dampen the spring. A damper is basicaly a pre determined amount of resistance that prevent the spring oscilating, causing the car to bounce uncontrolably as you go over bumps in the road.
Unless you have the Spax Kryton adjustable dampers( maybe others) they will stay at the lenght you remove them. If you want to make it longer, pull either end away from each other, if you want to make it shorter push either end together
