Fitting Automatic Rear Seat Belts

Hi i want to fit automatic seat belts to my 1981 mini but i dont really know what i need as for mounting plates and so on and where they go ?

It may or may not have the mounting plates in already. Mine is an 83 and has them and my old 82 did. The easiest way to check is to lift out the rear seat and see if you can spot the holes with the captive nuts behind. You can also feel for the upper mount by gently pressing the cover on the C pillar. The hole is about half way up. If you haven't got them then you will need to weld in suitable spreader plates which is a more involved job.

what about in the rear pocket what do i need to do in there

By the term "automatic" are you talking about fitting the retracting/ inertia reel rear belts that were fitted to the very late models, as opposed to the static ones that most of us have?
