Just looking for opinions or experiences here...

I've spotted the Minivation GPS tracker in the new MiniMag. Looks good but a simple google search shows me it's a TK102b complete with a free Sainsburys Sim, 12v power source / charger a vehicle bracket. (Edited product code).

Having looked at the many YouTube videos available and read a bit, these do look like a good addition to the mini security armoury.

So what are people's thoughts and or experiences of the device (£20 on eBay) and thoughts on the "offer" price of £48.00 from minivation ? Interested to hear what you all think as at more than twice the price the mini specific alterations and additions they have made seem to seriously out price them from the market.

TIA

90

I have looked at them on Ebay. You can get them for £20 but they tend not to come with the 12v lead so you have to pay extra or keep removing the tracker and charging the battery.

They are trackable to 10m and obliviouvly if you lose the phone signal you lose the tracker signal.

I think the newer model is better value as it is also an alarm: http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649

Thanks for that, Just read about the new one, looks good, but I do have a decent alarm and immobiliser already - this is a special !!

The code should have been TK102b sorry - typo. The £20 price I found included the 12v lead, £24.00 if you prefer a UK seller. Never the less the mini mag version is twice the price....

Some are available from £17:00 + less than a fiver for the lead.

I would say any tracker is better than none. I may get one of the old ones and try it out for a bit.

I think most people are a bit worried about discussing these on here as you could be tipping off the baddies. My Mini is on its roof in a locked garage so I have no such fear LOL.

Good point, and one I haven't missed myself. I'm not about to give the location or spec of my mini online !!

I do like the product, but minivation do seem to be a little rich on the price....

Hi all, we've had a few people compare our tracker kit to what is available on eBay. The tracker unit is the same but that's where the similarity stops. We've put together a graphic to show the differences.
Our tracker kit is specifically aimed at people with little or no technical knowledge OR people who don't have the time to go round eBay sourcing all the components. Obviously if you have a technical background then you're going to source one from Ebay and do all the additional work yourself.

For more information please have a look at our Frequently Asked Questions page or get in touch!

The 'mini specific' comment is related to the bracket we've designed to help people securely mount it to a solid part of the mini's bodywork. We're not trying to dupe anybody, just provide a kit of parts that makes protecting your pride and joy really easy and accessible to everyone, not just the technically minded!

With regard to the ones from China, just remember, whilst shipping often free, delivery times can be up to 25 days and then you have to pay import tax on your goods.
