What is a good running idle speed for a mini to help performance etc?
Just so it runs without struggling, idle doesn't affect performance

Yeah you're not going to notice any performance gains from a faster or slower idle. IIRC a good idle is around 800-1k rpm

In regards to RPM what should it be with the choke in?
I would say round about 800 but as long as the engine idles nicely and doesn't struggle then what ever you want

I Think it say 750 rpm in the haynes manual for my 998.

Believe it also says +/- 50 rpm

If you've got a modded engine with a lumpy cam in you'll struggle get it to idle that slow

IMO you don't need numbers for this, just the slowest comfortable idle will be right.

The idle with the choke fully out is higher anyway, set the idle speed to 800 RPM with the choke in.

I don't believe you can adjust that, can you?
I you can, again, 800 RPM.
