Have a listen...

Its coming from the front drivers side wheel, but only kicks in after about 5 to 10 miles if i turn left or right its fine it only happens when driving straight...

When i accelerate the noise gains speed and when i brake it slows down but when i do brake the noise stops...

hope someone can help its the only thing stoping me driving it :(

Sticky brake caliper and warped disc maybe?

First thing to do, get that wheel in the air and see if there is any movement. I'd have a real worry it was bearings giving out. Second to that, check the condition of the discs (assuming it's not drums) and pads.

It's rotational - check the bits that spin! :-)

I reckon it's Play in wheel bearing causing disc to wobble, catching brake pad. When you brake noise stops.

It sounds like the back plate rubbing on the disc to me. Get under the car and check to see if the back plate is secure. I had a similar noise when one of the tabs on mine cracked. I now run the car without them.

I had a very similar problem. Only started after 5 miles or so.

I was convinced it was the wheel bearing although it had no play in it.

I bought a new one to replace it, but when I took the split pin out to undo the hub nut, I found I could virtually undo it with my fingers.

I checked the bearing races for damage and none evident so I re packed it with grease and torqued it up properly.

No issues since. 18 months and 3000 miles later.
