How Much For A Service?

A couple of people have asked me to do a full service on their cars, one being a diesel golf, the other a petrol focus.
They are both supplying the oil an plugs, etc but i dont know what to charge labour wise.
I know how much a garage charges but it isnt reasonable to charge that much
So any pointers please?
Cheers

How much of a full service is it?
I.e. How long is it going to take you?

If it's just a set of filters and oil (plus plugs on the Ford) I suspect you are looking at an hour each. So whats an hour of your time worth plus the experience you bring with it? I'd say £30 to £40 and hour.

No service stamp, work carried out by I am guessing an unqualified mechanic, with no insurance, guarantee, receipt etc.
i would say 20 quid!

If the cars have service books then just write the date and mileage in it - with some of the work I've seen over the years the stamps mean very little anyway, especially after the car has been on the road for a few years.
You know these people, so that is better than any grantee that's on paper.
Oh, some of the best mechanics I've ever seen have no formal training and some of the worst have the best dealer training.

Yeah set of filter; air , cabin and oil, oil change, glow and spark plugs, check brakes all round and just a general check over
Thats a bit more than just a quick oil and filter change ...especially the glow plugs (got a couple of oil burners on the drive) and you will need to pull the wheels to see the pads I suspect ...close to two hours on each car would be my suggestion.

I'm qualified and i can give receipts and invoices
You need to provide us with more information.
So you are VAT and company registered? As that would mean a different price, than a cash in hand job!
