Hi, I have recently swapped my bucket seats for standards and so have had to revert back to original seat belts that I bought separately. When I received them they didn't have all the bolts and spacers, so I do not know which mount needs what, and where.

If anyone could let me know what each of the three mounting points has, and in which order, that would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone has any pictures also be helpful.

Thanks in advance. Cheers
.

I think this link will show what you need:

http://www.somerford...age=page&id=137

I think you will know that the bolts are somewhat special, and only the correct parts, or those of equivalent strength, are legal. If there is a single bolt at an attachment it is invariably 7/16" UNF, grade 8.8, and although grade 10.9 can be used, thus allowing caphead bolts, grade 12.9 is regarded as unsuitable, as it lacks ductility, and may break instead of bending under severe load. Modern cars may use an 11mm bolt, which is actually inferior to 7/16" UNF, so mostly 12mm is used, but not in a Mini.

Thanks for reply's, now I understand I can only have a certain type of bolt if I need extras. Thanks for the links, the one you sent tiger99 is very helpful but I still can't see exactly what spacers go where. Is it the bolt - thin washer - bracket - top hat spacer - normal spacer? Thanks.

I've also realised from tigers link, I have none of the massive washers for the inertia reel, for where it mounts on the rear bins. Might have to rob something similar from work.

Top fixing to A post, and lower fixing into sill. Bolt, belt bracket, wavy washer (anti rattle), spacer.

Shouldered spacer fits with smaller diameter facing out wards by the way and the wavy washer fits on this smaller diameter to keep a small amount of tension on the belt buckle to stop it rattling. Bolt torque 25 to 30 Nm

Do they only have one top hat spacer in the A post and lower sill then? I've seen other have the shouldered part going in to the bracket, and this is what the bracket moves on, with a normal spacer behind that? Has anyone got any pictures for me ? That would be so handy.

Does the reel just have that massive washer ? Thanks.

The spacer goes large end against the bodywork, with the belt bracket pivoting on the small end. The bolt obviously goes right through, and it is only a matter of personal opinion as to whether the wavy anti-rattle washer should go in front of or behind the bracket. I have seen them both ways. It "may" prevent rattles better in one place or the other, or will at least be invisible if put behind the bracket, the way A-Cell says, which makes sense, but it has no structural significance whatsoever. Don't leave it out, as there is no point in having annoying sources of rattles in the car.

The large washer is only used on 1997 onwards models with seat belt pretensioners. If that is your car, I strongly suggest using the official washers, which are  £1.32 each from Somerford, because then you can be sure that they are to the correct standard.

Thanks mate!!! According to you my seat belt arrangement is all ok! I won't bother putting a big washer on my seatbelt coil in the rear bins then, as it is a 1988 mayfair.

All I have left over now is the standard shaped spacers, which I have not fitted to anything ??? Cheers.
