............Anyhow back to the minis, I flashed a blue sportpack on starmags in swindon today, based purely on this thread, so see what would happen. I was in my moke, and got absolutely no response. Bird driving, late 20's early 30's and all i got back was a blank stare.....

Not boding well, so far....

Rich

Well Rich, at least you tried, that's the main thing. In defence of the girl driving the Sportspack, p'raps she didn't realise the Moke and Mini were related. They do look a little different after all.

I have to be honest, the whole Mini scene is why I love the cars so much. People generally are friendly with each other (some of us have bad days) and most people don't give a hoot what's under the bonnet, what model it is or what colour it is. The main thing is it's a Mini and it's people like all of us on TMF that keep the whole Mini scene alive.

Some people are restoring classic bog standard 850s (hats off to them) some people are turning Minis into tarmac eating monsters (like yourself by the look of it) and some people like to bodykit a mini or cover it in chromey bling. All that matters is that we keep on Mini-ing and keep the old beauties on the road, because one day they are going to disappear of the face of the planet!

As for Porsches, I actually love the old 356 and I think if I could ever afford to buy/run a Porsche it would have to be that model as everything else is poor in comparison in my mind (I have a friend who has a fully restored model and it really is amazing). BUT, I would never dream of slagging off someone elses Porsche model simply because IMHO it aint the best one they ever built (and that counts for 911s, 928s, 944s and so on). Obviously I am not taking performance into consideration with that statement, I just really like 356s. :(*

Since i've owned this mini, most of the minis on the road seem to be owned by enthusiasts and everybody seems to wave. But yes have come across 2 miserable beggars who just looked down their noses.

How rude!

When i used to be out in my pickup alot of people used to wave regardless of car..... but then my pickup is eye burning yellow (it hurts to look at it after too many the day before) with a big black stripe up the middle. An odd paint job but hey i wanted alittle diffrent at the time, can't decide what to do now. Oh i used to get funny looks to, many from people who thought i had defiled a classic....

People have good and bad days, wave and flash anyway, maybe your over whelming niceness will cheer them up or lock themsleves in a small shed with paper bag over there head crying.......

we can but try....

I had my first Mini wave today, I felt so proud to be a Mini owner. I flashed the bloke and he stuck his arm out of the window, not that exciting, but it was for me. Infact I saw loads of minis today, but none of them were in the position to flash or wave.

I think all Mini owners should recognise each other no matter how old or tatty theres is compared to yours, atleast they are driving them and respecting them.

My mum has a new MINI and she flashes other Minis or Binis but sometimes they look at her like shes crazy, but it doesent bother her as she respects all the mini's on the road.

I was driving along the road with my mate, and I recieved a text.. so I looked down at my phone.. only for my mate to say there was a nice Mini driving past.. waving and flashing at me.. but I was lookin down so I didn't see it. He's says he done all the waving for me :(

So even when I'm not waving due to not looking.. My passengers do!! ^_^

Bump! :errr: Went to the news agents today and saw a mint lookin standard mayfair with a woman of old age behind the wheel, so i flashed her she looked a little puzzled but smiled. And then got flashed and waved at by a bini :o (i waved back cause the driver was a particularly good looking young woman  ) altogether a good day :D
