hello,

ive just replace my door seals, and most of the leaks have stopped :D

however there seems to get a build up of water on the seal which runs in to the car..

Door shut

Door open

The other door, (and old seal) had part of it cut, im guessing for drainage,

should i do this to the new ones, or have i fitted them wrong?

i cant really see where its getting in...

Have your doors got clear drain holes in the bottom? If not, there could be water building up in them and coming in past the trim panel.

Mine also did this, i compared the seals with my original ones, neatly cut slits into the new seals matching the original seals, blocked the slit ends with sikaflex. Once that was done, I didn't get the build up of water and it didn't come in the car  :D

okay so like in the picture of the old seals you cut drainage slits. I never thought of filing the ends with sealer tho, thats a good idea :)

That's an awful lot of water there. Are you sure the doors are filling up that much? Have you checked whether it is coming in through the door cards? The plastic sheeting between the door card and door might be missing. Also check door check arm strap seal and the weather strip alongside the bottom part of the window (outside) as it may be adjusted so as to let too much water in.

I had the same problem - I took off the door cards and the gaffa tape covering the cutouts in the inner door panel had shrunk and split, allowing water to run out under the door cards to the inside and onto the seal, just like in your photo. I replaced the gaffa tape over the cutouts and all is well.

I have no slits in the seal, that gap in yours looks like shrinkage to me.

All this rain has really showed up the leaks !!!!!!

The gap has definitely been cut. It's not shrinkage. My belief is that the holes and slots in the OE seals is to let air out of the sponge 'tube' as you shut the door. Might be wrong, of course!

yea its been cut just the rubber tube bit, not the part that goes on the car.

Ill see how it holds up to rain rather than a direct hit from a bucket befroe i remove the door cards to inspect further.

That's how mine was leaking. When the car was at a slight angle the water came in past the window dripped onto the door card (the plastic liner was missing) and ran out the bottom into the car!
