You ain't got much choice really.

Maxsport is about the only manufacturer you'll easily get hold of

You could get some SP44's now they are being remade (not cheap though), I would have thought that a 4.5 rim with these tyres would be a better combination for mud and snow than having a wheel as wide as 6J, no doubt Cooperman will be able to add his thoughts as he has the rally experience

For rallying on gravel/mud/snow a 145 section tyre on a 4.5" rim is best. For tarmac a 165 section on a 4.5" or 5" seems to work very well. You gain nothing by going wider, but the rim edge sticking out more means it is more likely to get damaged.

Most rally cars use 4.5" Minilite rims as they are strong, give good brake cooling and work well. You can also run them without wheel arch extensions, so one less thing to get broken off.

Cooperman, Can you recommend a road track tire for a 10' wheel...Dunlop or Hoosier maybe?

I currently have Yoko A032R but I'm looking to upgrade.

Just don't be put off by the fact they look like cross-plies!

I've just seen that you live in San Diego, one of my all-time favourite places.

For 10" wheels there are several Dunlop 'sticky' racing tyres available, but to get them to CA would not be easy.

I don't know much about Hoosier, except that they have a good reputation generally.

I don't think they're that bad, for a proper performance tyre. We're just spoilt because our road tyres are so cheap on Minis

I could probably live with the cost if I didn't drive the car to events, sadly until my 6 numbers come up I'm on a budget like (most) of the rest of us, so it's the 32R Yoko's for me :-)

This info has been past to me about the Hoosier tires, which are readily available in the US. One thing that brings up a red flag in my mind is that I've been told they are bias ply. I've always associated bias ply as being a super slick hard rubber compound that was used on very early cars, which sucked for traction.
