I have a 1.2 Punto going for scrap. I saw mentioned on TMF t'other week that the punto head will fit which got me thinking as we'd already perused the idea of fitting the injection system at some point.
The idea of this thread is just to get some ideas from people who've done this kind of conversion be it Punto or other. I can see the potential benefits being more economy. Maybe a bit more power? Downside, for me, would be it wouldn't be a 'real' A-series. Give me your pros and cons please?!

I think, "it'll fit" is not exactly the truth, maybe like the K head fits...
Dimensionally, close but needs to be 'made to fit'

robert on TM is your man he has had one running, buts its not a whip your 5 port off and stuff the punto on..

have you got a link to that Gr4h4m? sav eme hunting on turbominis for it.
i had a pretty good go at using a hyundai amica head about 6 years ago, i sold it to a lad from minispeed and i dunno what happened to it, ill see if i can find the thread from when i was putting it together......

here you go, i never got it anywhere near running, but fundamentally there was nothing to stop it working.
if i had a milling machine and a lathe at my disposal i could have finished it im sure, but waiting for "favours" from mates was taking forever

You dont mention if its 8v or 16v,
if 8v you can get away with no mods to the pistons for the valves, but if its 16v you'll need the get piston cutouts put in.
essentially, you need to block up the head stud holes and redrill them buch the same as the BMW bike head conversion, but with the fiat head its much easier to sort out the timing belt.

It's an 8 valve head, so a bit less faff then.

if its a 1.2 it'll be OHC wont it? the OHV was 900cc iirc

the OHC will be easier, probably no way the pushrods could be made to line up.

depends on luck and the design of the head. If the combustion chamber dimensions are the same as an A series then the valve spacing should be similar also - or course there is no gaurantee the pushrods will be on the same side of the engine.the OHC will be easier, probably no way the pushrods could be made to line up.
