Has anyone ever used one of these workshop manuals, on a CD? If so, are they any good?

The reason I ask is the Haynes manual is just useless, and the original workshop manuals have become something of a collector's item, with people wanting to buy them and keep them in a glass cabinet.

Thoughts please.

I would love one of those, but I just can't justify £40.

Which Haynes manual do you have? The new dark blue one is a joke. The older ones are much better. The light blue seems to be the best one, late enough to cover most cars (but not injection ones) and early enough to have all the gearbox info as well.

I have the yellowy colour and light blue one. I find them both useless as it covers everything about the early cars (3 Synchro gearboxes, Pre A+ engines), but not the info that I require.

They're also falling to pieces, which doesn't help.

I am not sure if the CD quoted is complete enough. There were three manuals published over the production life of the Mini plus supplements.

The third manual, code AKM 7169 was published in 1992 and covers non-Cooper carb Minis as well as all SPis.

The CD seems to have the first manual, AKD 4935, and only the MPi supplement to AKM 7169, which was originally released in PDF format. The latter you can download from here:

http://www.theminifo...-perhaps/page-3

The engine, gearbox and other major components are not properly covered in the MPi supplement. It is useful information but you really also need AKM 7169.

I did buy a CD a few years ago off eBay, which had all three manuals on it but it is not always easy to identify the content of the disks.

Rimmers (and probably other suppliers) do the Heritage ones on CD - manuals, parts lists, fiches, etc. for £36 - you may never need another manual (as long as you don't scratch the DVD!  ;D  )

They are the best ones. I also have the red BMC folder manual and whilst it has some additional info it's not miles ahead of the Haynes. What extra info are you looking for?
