I have a JCG 90bhp converted car (i know its not likely to be anywhere near that output) I know there are people on here with the Specialist Components MPi setup, I was wondering what spec people had and what gains they had form normal to SC gear.

your benefits will come from being about to run performance mods that you can then supply the correct air and fuel too, which you can't do with the MPI ECU.

A delayed reply to this but I have now fitted the SC kit and before I did I had the car rolling roaded. 72 bhp and 87lb/ft, afterwards I have achieved 91bhp with similar peak torque but holding alot more alot later in the revs. Fueling before ran lean after 5k but now I have my redline set to 6800.

Well worth the money spent to actually get the bhp from the engine mods.

Jcw garages 90kit, vernier duplex, sw5 cam, competition valves, arp headstuds,
Quaife atb Diff, sc/cr box with drop gears, 10 row oil cooler. Probably a few other little things to.

Planning a rebuild with an sw10, balanced crank rods and flywheel and going 1330.

This is my problem. I'm thinking that if an all singing all dancing vmax 150 conversion on the mpi comes in at approx £4000 and includes the emerald ecu is it not better bang for the bucks than adding all the above as my car has no where near the upgrades your has. Basically my mpi has Lcb , k and n, full rc40 stainless fuel pressure boost and a skimmed head.. Your car sounds quite something sir jake!!

The vmax 150 kit requires your car to have a '90bhp' kit fitted.
My worry is that it would've been to much for giving the car abuse on track.

Cheers it's good fun to drive, could do with being faster but hey Ho it's only an 8 valve.

Are you talking about the Plus Pack? i did think you HAD to have that, as its an extra £1700.

Probably is been a while since I looked to be honest. I think the supercharger kit with a standard 1275 gives circa 100? But again I could be miles out as it's ages since I dreamed of that kit.
Would love a go in one, fitted at 150+bhp, round a track especially somewhere I know like Cadwell.

very tempting

I would definitely budget a gearbox in to that as well though, mpi's being renowned for their gearboxes, x pin would be a must I would have thought
