Looking to change my insurance as i think im getting robbed compared to some people on here!!
i pay £650 TPFT and it seems quite steep,

I saw the thread about agreed value and im looking to get that myself as if it ever went walkies i'd be gutted.

Anyway can you change your insurance from one company to another without losing a years no claims??

currently im 10 months into my first years no claims bonus and want to get the above agreed value insurance, would changing lose me my no claims??

can anyone give me a heads up on whish companies do agreed value and how they go about doing it?

Yes you would lose your no claims as you haven't actually got any yet. Until your policy is up for renewal and you have completed a full year, then you will have no claims.

I've posted in the other thread about how it's done. You don't have to go through the National MOC. I never have. I just do it through Lancaster. They send me a form, I tell them how much I think it worth, I attach lots of photographs to the form, pay £15 per year and they send back a certificate saying how much THEY think it's worth and how much they will pay out in the event of a total loss. Easy !!!! If you don't agree with their valuation you have the right to appeal against it but I've never had any problems in all the years I've done it.

You will also not receive a return in premium as they would charge 'short period rates' (for most companys after 10/11 months you dont get anything back)

Best to wait until the end of the contract before switching :w00t:

I pay about the same as you inclduing the instalment charge and I am on a provisional license with no NCD (but I am 24 lol)!

Cheeky buggers wont reduce the premium when I pass my test though ! Did some checking and if I had waited until then to get insured I could have got the same cover for about half the price !

i used to work in underwriting for a while, you will have to earn it as a years NCD - ie 12 mnths and not 10.

use the time now to shop round rather than rushing into moving, when its time to renew, most companies will offer a small discount to try and keep you as a customer so it may be cheaper not to move. i was with tesco for 4yrs with my puma and scoobies - no where came close to compare for my age and the cars i had.

quite a few companies do aggreed values, but you have to get the valuation done, and be able to prove it. it's generally just a small fee to get that added to your policy.

If that is indeed the case, then don't crash for 2 months! I'll bet your excess is about £150 too! Might leave you enough for a beer. If you can get to the pub.... :P

do your ringing round now, and as soon as your old policy is up, you can switch. Do it by ringing up too. Don't rely on websites for quotes as what you want is something different than "standard".
