Recently ive developed in high end of the gears,
reving up to and extra 500rpm (whilst accelerating) and bogging down.
Releasing the preasure off the gas, rpm returns to normal, repeating this straight after happens again.. now i tend to aee this more when im going up any gradient..
tappets, leads things are all fine... but my guess is an intermitten sticky float perhaps..?

What carb is it mate? If in any doubt just whip it off and take it apart. They're real simple. Took the HS4 apart on mine a few weeks back, took all of ten minutes including the time it took to get the thing off the engine. It was full of crud. Some petrol, little paint brushes and other little tools to scrape the old stuff out of the bowl is all you need. Compressed air can be handy too if you've got it.

Yeh got compressor and all the cleaning products etc ha, but yeh ill probably take it off on sunday and have nose... its a hif38

Just been reading up on vizards book, and goes over on the one issue with heat effecting the float bowl from exhaust, making fuel heat up and lean out... so kinda.makes me think this is cause issue... as it is when the engine is at normal temperature

Hmm. It's worth grabbing a Gunsons Colortune or summit. Handy little tool. Will let you know what your mixture is like. It'd be worth letting the car get to running temp and then richening the mixture a little. Pop out for a drive and see if it's better.

Alternatively fit a heat shield.
