So yesterday I baught my mini rose , fetched her home, first thing we, me and the boyfriend chez who also has a mini neon made sure engine started ok, which as you can imagine from a car that's been stood for 2years didn't, therefore we did alitttle scratching of heads and checked the spark plugs, sutty! Baught new ones 4for£5 not bad and fitted them. Thinking greatly it would help if there wasn't old petrol in the car so we poped to the garage and jerky can to purchase some petrol. We got back put the petrol in and started her up, little rough to begin but after tweeting here and there she was ok. I then went over with a damp cloth and tidied her mucky body work up. Afterwards just as curiosity I checked the air filter, looked older than me! Put it back on for next day and started her up. She was blowing although she had a brand new exhaust and box and piping ! So I turned her off wrapped her up and left her the night. Woke today and I fitted a new air filter, washed the casing , and sprayed the little metal end (unsure on name) . I then primer the bonet ready and fitted it, I then put rust extracter into most of the rust I knew it wouldn't do much but oh well, I then tinkered with radio to find lives were bad so I electrical taped them and left them, we then took the exhaust manifold off to see why it was blowing that was gone so we cleaned everything that came off in the process. The gasket cover etc was covered with de-greeser an washed off we put it to one side and left it till tomorrow when we get a manifold. When getting to the manifold we had to cut the fule line and had many issues with bolts being tough but roll on a full day tomorrow :) engine time

Good luck!
I had the chance to buy one of these years ago, agreed a price and went back later to collect and the lady told me someone else came along and offered more.
Hope to see your build diary being updated as you go. I am very interested!
