Been doing a bit of research on the history of my car recently and have managed to track down previous owners and even a relative of the first owner (who has since passed away).

I've found out that back in 1970 my 1275GT was purchased by a woman who lived in Shepherd's bush - does anyone know how I would even start finding out what BL dealerships were located in the area.

Reason? I'd like to make up some bespoke dealership window stickers, in the style of the time and it'd be a nice touch to have the name of a dealership that it might've come from.

Bit of a long shot but there is a huge wealth of knowledge on TMF - so thought this was a good place to start.

Cheers!  :-)

Have you ever done a DVLA V888 form? https://www.gov.uk/g...206691/V888.pdf

Say it is a historic vehicle and you want details of all the former keepers to add to the history and they send you a photocopy of every V5 they have got on record for your car. I did it for mine and have the original registration form, which has the name of the garage, plus every keeper change since. It costs a fiver. Of course yours is 1970 so a bit more difficult that 1991.

I do remember seeing a list of BL dealerships by area somewhere. Will have a dig to see if I can find it.

Yeah - done this a few years back which is how I managed to trace some of the original owners.  My car has had 10 previous owners and I managed to contact 3 of them, including the niece of the original owner from 1970!  No record of where it was bought though as far as I can remember (I'll have to dig out the paperwork again and double check).

A list of BL dealerships by area sounds just the ticket though!

This is the list I found. It's actually for Triumphs but does list BL, Rover garages..

Not sure how helpful as can't see anything for Shepherd's Bush. There could have been a few around there, how will you tell which one yours came from? Your numberplate's ELN which is a North west London reg.

I am sure I found a website through here that you could put your VRN in and it would tell you all kinds of info about where it was first registered and the like. I'll see what I can find for you.

Edit 1: Ok not the link I am after but you might find this an interesting read.

Your numberplate's ELN which is a North west London reg.

If the reg. is ELN ***J, that is a London Central registration.

Conway Motors were both Austin and Morris dealers.

If its a Morris, T F Ford & Son may have supplied it.
