I used to have a Porsche 2.7 which I took off the road to do a major body resto job, so I inhibited the engine. To do this I blew Waxoyl and engine oil into each plug hole and then re-fitted the plugs.
About 1 year later I needed to start the engine and cleaned out the bores with a mixture of diesel & white spirit. I cranked it over with the plugs out to wash the muck out and to get oil pressure with the fresh oil in the dry sump.
Then, when I had 3 bar of oil pressure I blew the cylinders out with comp air, put the plugs in and fired it up. It was a bit like "Cap'n to engine room ,make smoke (as in a WW2 movie)". I have never seen smoke like it. My wife thought the workshop was on fire.
